Probably from the early Middle Ages to the fire of 1383, the rather large castle of the Bucheggberg counts and their descendants stood on the hill. The present tower was built on its ruins in 1546 and served as a prison until 1798. In the 19th century, agriculture and the attached barn found their way into agriculture and in its "underground", in the sandstone cellars, Bayer Faist, the popular "regional" beer in the district, was brewing around the turn of the century. Since the restoration in 1956, the castle has been a local museum.

Next door is the Schloss Buchegg restaurant with gardening. An ideal place for a relaxing break.
