Even before the current Gothic church, there was a church with a cemetery in the same place. In 1410 the church was fortified to the fortified church. In the years 1725-28 today's large church was built as a hall with simple, unstructured facades and round-arched windows, the choir closed on three sides facing south. The builders were Heinrich and Johann Schmitt.
In 1934 the church was extended 9 meters to the north. The medieval choir tower has been preserved and is connected to the nave by a door. The baroque high altar fills the choir, which is illuminated by four large arched windows. The baroque interior of the church includes the pulpit by the carpenter Kraus, built in 1728. A remarkable ornament of the Hirschaid church is the lavish, symmetrical stucco ceiling from 1728. It was created by the famous Bamberg stucco family of Johann Jakob Vogel and his sons.
