The "pleasure column" is not what some might think, but a memorial stone in the forest between Groß-Gerau and Mörfelden. This culturally and historically interesting landscape element is worth mentioning. You can find the pillar if you turn right from Groß-Gerau in the direction of Mörfelden on the B 44 after the Nold car dealership and after the experimental estate. Follow the path to the east. About 100 m after entering the forest you can see a sign "Denksäule". Following the forest lane to the south you come to a small clearing. The sandstone monument stands there on a two-tier pedestal. It consists of a cubic base, a square column tapering towards the top and a sculpture of a Hessian lion with a coat of arms. The following text can be read on the south side of the column:
TO THE MEMORY OF THE LUSTLAGERS THAT OUR THROUGH. HEREDITARY PRINCE WITH THE MOST BELOVED FR. WIFE IN A NUMEROUS CHORAL SOCIETY IN THE YEAR 1782 IN THE MONTH OF AUGUST 12 DAYS OF HIGHLY PLEASURE AND TO THE JOY OF THE PEOPLE IN THIS FIELD // THIS PILLAR OF THOUGHT AND THE PILLAR OF THOUGHT AFTER THE 1782 ROLLED OVER THE 1782.

The same text is carved in Latin on the north side (with a reference to a restoration in 1990).

The "Erbpriz" is about the later Landgrave Ludwig X. - from 1806 Grand Duke Ludwig I (1753-1830; reigned from 1790) and his wife was Louise of Hessen-Darmstadt, his cousin (1761-1829).
