The original chapel, the so-called “Sausage Chapel” stood in a place by the forest road connecting Horní Blatná with the village of Potücky – Strán, in the middle of the forest, covered with trees. It was a plain brick building with two frosted glass windows, a wooden landing and surrounded by benches. In the chapel there was a small altar, pious donors hung pictures of saints and placed statues here. Unfortunately, no information about the period of exposure and the builder has survived. It was not possible to determine from historical sources who the former chapel was dedicated to. After the Second World War, the chapel was demolished and its existence was forgotten for many decades. The road around the defunct chapel was not used by the public for decades, so LCR constructed a new chapel some 400m northeast of the original chapel. This new chapel stands on the road that today connects the town of Horní Blatná with the village of Potücky-Strán. This new chapel is dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel, who is, among other things, the patron saint of the Catholic Church, the dying and patron saint against lightning strikes and inclement weather. Inside the chapel, Saint Michael the Archangel is depicted above the altar. We believe that even in these times, the footsteps of believers and pilgrims from near and far will lead to the chapel and that future generations will keep it with love and care for themselves.
