The fountain was only built in 1998 in memory of the most famous citizen of the city, "Prince Lieschen".

The fountain is located on the market square and shows the city coat of arms and the
Tables of all incorporated localities and their founding dates.
The fountain itself was built as part of the market's redesign in 1997 with the support of local companies.
Since October 18, 2010, our historical Lunzenau personality "Prinz Lieschen" has been looking down from the fountain. Thanks to numerous sponsors, the fountain figure was designed by the artist Konrad Hunger, who was born and raised in Lunzenau.
The market fountain is particularly beautiful around Easter. The home and culture association Lunzenau and surroundings e.V. decorates it with an artistically designed Easter crown.
        The life story of
        "Prince Lieschen" from Lunzenau
Sophia Sabina Apitzsch was born in 1692 as the eldest daughter of the stuff maker and
High Count Schönburg court judges Johann Apitzsch and his wife
Anna Maria was born in Lunzenau. Since she was already very talented as a child, she was encouraged by her
Parents spoiled and admired by acquaintances.
As a young girl, she enjoyed a particularly good upbringing for her circumstances
        attended foreign high schools.
The narrow family home and the modest circumstances under which she grew up
were no longer enough for her; her mind was set on distance and great experiences. The thought,
having to do the monotonous work of a "housewife" for a lifetime was tormenting
you. She found the idea particularly unbearable when, in 1710, the hunter
Matthias Melchior Leonhard engaged to her.
