The foundation stone of the chapel on the Miesberg was laid in 1691. Pilgrimages in the following years proved the chapel too small. However, the "Holy Trinity Pilgrimage Church" was not enlarged until 1721. In 1888 the church received the tower that is still preserved today. From 1933-1935, the Order of Passionists founded the monastery.
