Based on a concept by the Munich-based planning firm "bauchplan," a square with a water feature, the "Lower Town Square," was created on a portion of the parking lot between Hauptstrasse and Viehmarktstrasse. The asphalt strip of the street is repeatedly interrupted by paved crossings, promoting interaction between pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. At Spitalplatz, an asphalt track replaces the rough, noisy pavement. The Spital Garden behind the Spital Church has been designed to be inviting.
