The Limburg skyline is romantic, especially in the evening hours when the cathedral is bathed in yellow light by the low sun. 🤗

Limburg an der Lahn is a city full of history - its beginnings go back to the early Middle Ages: "Lintpurc" was first mentioned in a document in 910. Shortly after the document was issued by the then King Ludwig, the child was born with the building of the collegiate church started, today's Limburg Cathedral.
With the establishment of the monastery, Limburg became increasingly important and brought it to prosperity and prestige thanks to the brisk freight transport that prevailed at the time on the Via Publica high road.
If you stroll through the medieval old town today, admire the old squares and spruced up half-timbered houses, walk across the Alte Lahnbrücke, built in 1315, and look up to St. George's Cathedral, which towers over the city on a hill, then Limburg unfolds all its medieval charm.
Because of its excellently preserved cityscape and the associated medieval city wall, the entire city center was placed under monument protection. This makes Limburg an der Lahn one of the most beautiful cities in Hesse today.

Very nice town located above the Lahn.
Absolutely worth seeing the city center with the many half-timbered houses and the cathedral.
