The Steinbrink tunnel is the last tunnel that was driven in 1918 in the Nesselberg mining area. In September 1918, after a successful test drilling, official approval was granted for mining operations. The newly excavated tunnel was given the name of "Bergoberhauptmann Steinbrink". At that time, around 100 miners were employed in the mines at Nesselberg. deisterbergbau.de/bergbau-am-nesselberg-im-saupark.html

The Steinbrink tunnel also supplied the A.G. Glassworks belonging to the glass industry with hard coal.
