Road cycling
Günzburg's old town is almost completely preserved and faithfully restored. Here you can stroll through the narrow streets and find numerous shops and restaurants. The market square is the bustling heart of the town and was already very lively in the 18th century: back then, the Vienna-Paris postal route passed through the square. Today, numerous beer gardens beckon visitors.

The fountain, inaugurated as part of the redesign of the market square (1983/84) and created by the sculptor Jan Bormann from Castrop-Rauxel, incorporates many details of the city's history. The river goddess Guntia, the city's patron saint, lies in the octagonal basin. A Roman coin, a medallion depicting various towers of the city, and a Maria Theresa thaler can be seen around the edge of the basin.
