A chapel foundation in 1381. With the approval of the Aachen Marienstift and the Laurensberg parish responsible at the time, the knight Matthias von Berensberg (Mathias von Bernsberg) and his wife Klara had a private chapel built, which was dedicated to the patron saint, St. Matthias, and whose sole purpose was that there are regular masses for the salvation of the soul of the founder, his family and descendants. The building was made of quarry stone with small round windows and a low bell tower with a blunt tip. The roof was covered with slate.
