From farmhouse to town hall: The main building that exists today, built in ashlar masonry, dates back to 1870. This is unusual for Saerbeck, because the large farmhouses here were usually built in half-timbering. In 2000, the municipality of Saerbeck acquired this former farmstead, which represents an "old core" of Saerbeck's settlement history. A new usage concept was developed for the building, which was worth preserving: it was to be converted into a town hall and become the new seat of the municipal administration. The new town hall of Saerbeck was inaugurated on April 30, 2002 (source: saerbeck.de/Unser-Saerbeck/Das-neue-Rathaus.htm?).
