With tree-lined trails, misty hills and wildflower meadows, Settrington Wolds is a beautiful part of Yorkshire. You will also find the Settrington Beacon here, a Roman signal station which once warned of Viking invasion. It is thought that the beacon was visible from 400 square miles (643 km) away. You can still visit the beacon, which is lit on special occasions.
