    This was excellent quality riding, climbing slowly through a wide valley with a few trees and dotted with sheep folds. More climbing on technical rough gravel, over a number of wide river beds, was the shape of things to come for the afternoon. At 31 km, there was a really cool gravel descent to a little village, (more kids) — nice, flowing gravel section, really fast and enjoyable if you “pressed on” a bit.
