    There was a really atmospheric sunrise while riding down a magnificent valley on a good tarmac road. It felt like the Grand Canyon or something gorge-like — beautiful sandstone colours, and really enclosed It really reminded me of the Durance or Guil Gorge in the Alps. The road was out at a few points which meant more gravel to bypass the damage. A short steep climb heralds the end of the canyon, and a descent to the turn onto a gravel road out into the arid plains again.
