The heather between Wesel and Undeloh and covers an area of around 350 hectares. The hills here are beautiful, offering a panoramic view of the landscape.
Typical are nutrient-poor sandy soils on which only a few plants such as birch, pine, juniper and of course the heather thrive.
With a little luck, you may come across a herd of heather sheep here that is used to maintain the heather.
Incidentally, the "Heidschnuckenweg" long-distance hiking trail runs here.

The Weseler Heide captivates in every season with impressive views over the heathland between Wesel and Undeloh and covers an area of around 350 hectares.

The special feature of the Weseler Heide are the hills, through which you can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view over the heather.

The well-known heathland emerged as a result of agricultural activities in earlier centuries. The nutrient-poor sandy soils, on which only a few plants, such as birch and pine forests, but of course the heather, the common heather (Calluna vulgaris), thrive are typical of the parks that are now under nature protection.

The hiking trails lead past isolated juniper bushes, bee fences and an old sheepfold through the characteristic hills and valleys of the Wesel Heath. With a bit of luck you may come across a herd of hard-working heather sheep, which have been used to care for the heather for several centuries.

There are also a few lakes in the Weseler Heide. Heide Pastor Wilhelm Bode, the founder of the nature reserve, is said to have often sat at the "Pastor Ponds" to prepare his sermons in God's free nature. Hence the name Pastor Ponds.
