    The tower has nothing to do with city fortifications. It was erected in 1905 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the death of Friedrich von Schiller.
    There are said to be old notes that the tower was originally built as an attraction for a trade fair. A citizen of Oberursel then bought it, after which it found its destination in Oberursel.
