Hiking

The Karwendelbahn takes passengers from Mittenwald in the Eastern Alps up to the Karwendelspitze at 2,244 meters - making it the second highest mountain railway in Germany.👍

Hiking

The train goes in the direction of the Karwendelspitze. The museum at the upper train station is definitely recommended for families, and the tunnel in the direction of Dammkar is also worth seeing. The summit is about 1-2 hours' walk from the station, and the "via ferrata" is highly recommended. My insider tip is the ascent from the valley. Next to the cable car are the markings. The ascent to the summit and the descent via the via ferrata take about 6-8 hours.

Hiking

Very important to find out about the opening on site. Made the mistake of only looking at the website and unfortunately the train only went up and not down due to bad weather.
