The Heidengraben was a river in the 1st century BC. Celtic oppidum used in the 1st century BC, which was located in the Swabian Alb in the area of Grabenstetten, Erkenbrechtsweiler and Hülben. The complex is considered the largest Celtic settlement in Central Europe.[1] Originally the term only referred to the remains of the fortifications of the oppidum, which are still visible today as a wall and whose origin was only clarified at the beginning of the 20th century. The oppidum had an outer and an inner attachment ring; Within the latter lay the settlement known as Elsachstadt (after the Elsach stream that rises below the oppidum in the Falkensteiner Cave).
