Bike Touring Highlight
The "castle" is just a castle. Nobles never lived here, but some of the former weir systems can still be seen and some of them can be seen.
In addition to a public toilet facility, there is also a bicycle rental in the courtyard, which also has nine eBikes.
The knife tower has been well preserved and is now home to a small souvenir shop. The casemates in the wall are also preserved. Other facilities such as old walls, buildings and paths can easily be discovered on a walk through the picturesque center of Brüggen. Worth it.

"The first written mention of Brüggen Castle and its mill dates from Christmas Eve in 1289. In the middle of the 14th century, the castle was expanded into a fortress with four towers, and the buildings between the towers were then added to the present in the 17th century From 1494, Brüggen Castle remained the northernmost border fortress of the Duchy of Jülich until 1794. It was privatized by the French government in 1801 and is still in private ownership today which opened in 1979. "

From here you have a view of the goal tavern (restaurant), the old Brüggen mill (also a restaurant) and the castle of Brüggen. A small park invites you to rest, with a view of the old mill wheel, which is driven by the Schwalm. Beer gardens offer refreshment for hikers and cyclists, there is also an end to the pedestrian zone. Definitely stay here, it's worth it.
