    Ebenhausen Local History Museum

Rural farming life and work as well as local craft traditions are the focus of the exhibition.

Around 2500 exhibits are now in the exhibition rooms, which are spread over two floors and give a pretty good impression of what it was like back then.

On the ground floor, for example, there is a functioning village blacksmith's shop with all the accessories. You can even see a tire bending machine here. This was used to make the iron rings that held the wooden wheel together and protected it from wear.

In another room you can see a carpenter's workshop, as was common in villages at the time. A workbench and accessories, as well as chisels of various kinds round off the theme. Next door is a shoemaker's workshop with all the equipment.

Another section deals with popular piety and a variety of household items can be admired in display cases. It also shows how the people of Ebenhausen used to bake bread.

On the first floor there is a complete farmhouse apartment from the turn of the last century. The kitchen still has good old Caro coffee, and the bed linen in the parents' bedroom is a pure white.

The museum is also interesting for railway enthusiasts, as Ebenhausen was and still is a stopover for regional railway connections. A picture timetable that looks like an antediluvian computer can be seen here.

In addition, large agricultural equipment and everyday objects of rural life are on display in the "Museum Barn" section of the museum on Schlossplatz.

    Opening hours:

The museum is open every first Sunday of the month from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Guided tours can be arranged at any time.
