In Klein Döhren the first church was built shortly after the town was founded and belonged to the parish in Groß Döhren. When it became too small, this church was demolished in the 19th century. The defensive tower was preserved and the nave was rebuilt in 1858/59. The medieval altar block was rebuilt into the church. The same applies to a stone coat of arms of the Lords of Schwicheldt, which was bricked up in the sacristy.
