The Förster-Ludewig-Platz is very attractively designed with a seating area and the Schachtkopf hut. A footbridge takes you to another small rest area via a settling basin in the dam ditch, which frees the wild water coming from the Nabental waterfall from its flood of sediment.
A memorial was erected there by the head forester Pittau for the forest workers who died in the First World War and the forester Meyer. The stamp box (HWN 133) is also located on this small peninsula.

At the Förster-Ludewig-Platz there is a refuge called "Schachtkopf-Hütte". It was named after the mountain on the southern slope of which this building is located. You will also find various benches and a war memorial here. This commemorates the forest workers from Altenau who fell in World War I.
