Best Hikes to Horseshoe Mesa Campsite

Tips

  • You will find designated campsites at Horseshoe Mesa. There are three small group sites east of the standing masonry structure and a large group site further north, east of the little butte that caps Horseshoe Mesa. There are pit toilets at both areas, but no running water. The closest reliable water sources are at Page Spring (aka Miners Spring) and Hance Creek. To get there, you have to follow the Tonto Trail east. Since it is a strenuous hike there, better leave your equipment at the campsite and hike light.

As with all camping within Grand Canyon National Park, you must have a permit to stay overnight. You will find more information at nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/backcountry-permit.htm
