Großer Dehlensee

The Great Dehlensee, a former gravel pit, is located in the urban area of Leverkusen on the border of the two districts of Hitdorf and Rheindorf. The water level and thus the depth of the water are influenced by the groundwater level and also by the Rhine level. The water is surrounded by forest. In the southern part there is a small peninsula.The association implemented extensive habitat improvements for fish on the water, such as the creation of spawning and hiding places as well as plantings. Carp of over 40 pounds have already been caught in the lake. Even predators over a meter in length are not uncommon.The water is managed by the Sportfischerverein Hitdorf in 1938. However, fishing is only permitted for club members.
