At Trabocco Cungarelle, as in the many other trabocchi of this stretch of Adriatic coast, you can relive ancient maritime traditions and enjoy the catch of the day and other local cuisine directly on the sea.

The trabocco or travocco is an imposing construction made of Aleppo pine wood typical of the areas of the middle Adriatic, moldable, capable of withstanding the saltiness and the strong gusts of the mistral that beat the Adriatic. Consisting of a platform jutting out into the sea anchored to the rock by large trunks from which two or more long arms, called antennas, stretch out, suspended a few meters from the water, which support a huge tight-meshed network: the "balance". The different characterization of the coastline has defined the distinction of different typologies: this one, the Abruzzo one, is distinguished precisely by being positioned transversely with respect to the coast to which it is connected by walkways.

Trabocco di Cungarelle is located near the beach of the same name along the Via Verde Costa dei Trabocchi cycle path in Vasto marina. It is one of the several trabocchi scattered along the Adriatic coast where it is possible to eat fish and other culinary specialties of this area directly on the trabocco, an ancient wooden machine for fishing for fish and enjoying a decidedly unique and spectacular view!
