The Perito Moreno Glacier is a good hour's drive from El Calafate in the Parque Nacional los Glaciares. Admission to the park is (currently) 4000 Argentine pesos. The national park was established in 1937. In 1981 it was recognized as a natural wonder by Unesco. The Perito Moreno Glacier is 4 kilometers wide, 30 kilometers long, 40-60 meters high and has 250 sq km. Color-coded short paths lead over iron footbridges to different "balconies", so that you can observe the glacier well.
