The church of San Giacomo dating back to 1000 is what remains of the ancient hospice built on the Roman military road. The church, located in Ripa Scorticata, along the Roman road, has a sixteenth-century fresco. It represents the holy places of the main "chimneys" of medieval Christian spirituality: St. Peter (Rome), the deposition of Christ (Jerusalem), St. Jacopo (Compostella). An eighteenth-century document defines the stretch between San Latino and San Giacomo as "Strada Regina". Here, moreover, a xenodochium, or hospice for pilgrims, resisted over time to testify to the survival of the communication route of the Middle Ages. Via Regina is the name of two homonymous but distinct Roman roads which connected, considering the overall route of the two communication routes, the river port of Cremona with Clavenna (Chiavenna) passing through Mediolanum (Milan).
