As you battle the headwinds, drenched to your bones and descending from the moors, is there a gladder sight than a cosy, country pub?

The Dipton Mill is just that. It serves good food, fine refreshments and is even the home of the Hexham Brewery.

It is also a key hiker's landmark for two routes into Hexham. One follows the road and is slightly quicker, whilst the other is more scenic and goes across the fields.
