A small restored chapel, which is occasionally used for church services, is located on a small hill in Oberkleinich. The baroque hall building was built in 1774 instead of several previous buildings.
Until 1974 Oberkleinich was an independent municipality. As part of the administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate that began in the mid-1960s, today's local community of Kleinich was formed from Oberkleinich and six other communities on March 17, 1974.
