The nature reserve dune pine forest at Langhagensee is a conditionally near-natural forest complex. The pines standing here, a few beeches and sessile oaks grow on a fine sandy surface on which some inland dunes are placed. They were created after the Ice Age, when many areas lay fallow thanks to the former ice cover and vegetation only slowly developed on them.

Even today, the forest here is quite sparse in some places and typical heather plants such as juniper can grow and thus form a typical heather vegetation. From time to time you can see goats here, the natural caretakers of the heathland.
