The Tenneiji Temple was built in 1367 by Yoshiakira Ashikaga, the second shogun of the Muromachi era, and founded by Fumyo Kokushi. The "Tenneiji 3-Story Pagoda", a little further up the mountainside, is an important cultural asset and the highlight of the temple.
