In Székesfehérvár, former mayor Emil G. Csitáry initiated the mineral water explorations in the 1930s. The water found proved insufficient to run a thermal bath, and to the delight of the people of Fehérvár the spring has since been used as a well. The carbonic water, which emerged from a depth of 130 metres, was named Csitáry water, now known in the vernacular as sour water.
The water has a high mineral content, which is beneficial to health. The carbonic spring water is the most effective remedy for cardiovascular diseases, which can be achieved by means of a bathing cure, i.e. a carbonic bath. And when consumed, it can help relieve biliary and stomach upsets. Its calcium content makes it particularly suitable for women.
