The Preetz City Church is the Protestant church of Preetz in the south of the city center on the west bank of the Kirchsee.

Its current appearance is based on a design by Rudolph Matthias Dallin from the 1720s.

The town church was originally built as a fortified church on a hill above the Kirchsee lake between 1200 and 1210. At that time, the so-called "Limes Saxoniae" was marked by the Schwentine River and the Kirchsee lake: the area of today's Plön district was one of the last regions in all of Europe not yet fully Christianized around 1200.

The town church stood as a missionary and fortified church on the border with the predominantly pagan population.

The late Romanesque fieldstone choir (around 1200) also dates from this period.

The current appearance of the town church is characterized by the Baroque style.

Worth seeing are a Romanesque baptismal font from the 13th century, Renaissance candlesticks from the 16th century, bronze crowns from the 17th century, and a floating baptismal angel from the 18th century.

The beauty of the north are the often very well-preserved church ensembles. In addition to the church, there are other buildings in the immediate vicinity, such as the pastor's or widow's house. In Preetz there is also a retirement home run by the church operator near the church. Today's town church was built in the 18th century. A first building stood on the spot as early as the 13th century. At that time it was used as a mission church, because today's district of Plön was one of the last non-Christianized areas. Various conversions changed the image of the church again and again afterwards. The baptismal font from the 13th century has been preserved.
