Mountain biking

In the 19th century, alongside agriculture, mining was an important industry in the Hunsrück. With the exception of the iron mines in Sohren and Kostenz, the one in Reckershausen was probably the most important in this area. The iron ore mined mainly went by wagon to the Gräfenbacherhütte and the Asbacherhütte in the Soonwald. The brown “Thon-Eisenstein” and the “Brauneisenstein” were mined to a depth of approx. 3 m. In 1870, mining operations stopped after more than 100 years.
