The wooden bridge near Essing is a strap bridge that leads pedestrians and cyclists across the Main-Danube Canal at Essing near Kelheim. Built after seven years of planning in 1986, the bridge was at 189.91 meters the longest wooden bridge in Europe, until it was replaced in 2006 by the dragon tail in Ronneburg.
