"At the upper end of the Herrenwiese, opposite the manor house, the first temple of friendship stood from 1824 to 1864, which Princes Ludwig and Emil erected in honor of their mother, Grand Duchess Luise. The graceful Monopteros with a dome decorated with a pine cone on wooden pillars carried the inscription on the architrave: "In childlike love - February 18, 1824 Ludwig and Emil". Since the temple had to be demolished due to dilapidation, an iron climbing frame, the so-called "Efeutempel", was erected as a replacement in 1871 In 1990 it was destroyed by falling trees. In its place, today's temple of friendship was reconstructed in 1998. "
