Point Lynas Lighthouse stands tall on a picturesque headland. A pilot station was built at the location in 1766 to guide ships from Liverpool and the present structure was built in 1835. From this spot, you are afforded lovely views out to the Irish Sea and over the coastline.

Oil lamps and reflectors have been installed in a tower here since 1779 to ensure the safe passage of ships to and from Liverpool. The current lighthouse at Point Lynas (Trwyn y Balog) was built in 1835 by the Mersey Docks and Harbor Board.

The tower is 11 meters high and is attached to a crenellated building that was purchased by private individuals in 2001. The lighthouse was automated in 1989.

Point Lynas has been gradually restored. Today two of the old guard houses are available as 4-star holiday homes. The site is free to wander and there is a lovely walk from the nearby Amlwch Harbour.
