Near the 548 meter high Spessarts head, dragon slayer Siegfried is said to have been given a spear by his adversary Hagen from behind. Now he has a memorial fountain here. By the way, not only here: Such a saga leaves a lot of room for speculation, which is why other places have the "only" Siegfriedsbrunnen. But this is supposed to be the most beautiful. It is also located directly on the Nibelungensteig. The little hut next door offers itself for a nice break.

Hiking

According to legend, Hagen von Tronje killed the Nibelung hero Siegfried at this well after a joint hunting trip. The unsuspecting Siegfried leaned down to the spring to quench his thirst. Hagen thrust the spear through his shoulder, his only vulnerable body.
