At that time it was an important building in the city, in a well-maintained condition.

The keep along with today's brewery are the only surviving buildings of the former castle which was demolished in the years 1967-1968. It was converted into a brewery in 1700. In 1931 it received the framework construction. The brewery reopened in 1999 after being used for other purposes in the GDR era. Since 2010 there has been another exhibition on the brewery in which a model of the former moated castle can be seen.
