The Esterle plant was particularly cared for from an architectural point of view since it had to be representative of the Edison company that had built it. It appears more like a Lombard villa of delight than a real industrial apparatus. A beautiful place of interest to admire while traveling along the Adda cycle path along the Milanese bank.

The “Esterle” power station, owned by Edison, can be visited on some occasions and is particularly known for its beauty. The building is built in a style derived from the Lombard eclectic tradition. Meticulous ornaments, strictly repeated geometric and floral motifs, the columns and capitals at the entrance, wrought iron lampposts and eaves and the imposing Gothic-style windows make it look more like a villa than a real industrial building.
Inside, the walls and ceiling of the engine room were decorated with great care, as are the floors, street lamps, lamps and numerous wrought iron furnishings.

The plant has been modernized and improved several times since 1998, so that, in terms of technology, reliability and performance, it can certainly be defined as a modern plant. However, all these interventions were made respecting the original forms, not only of the building, but also of the machinery to the point of being almost unnoticeable. In particular, although a new control room has been built, in a secluded position, all the valuable equipment of the ancient control desks have been preserved.
