Castle Howard is a magnificent stately home that was built in 1699 by architect John Vanbrugh. The Baroque building has been home to the Howard family for over 300 years. Set amongst extensive gardens and parkland, the castle is known as one of the great palaces of Europe and deservedly so.
You can visit the gardens from 10am - 5pm, or stop by at the tea rooms. The house is open from March until November. Tickets cost £19.95 per adult. Further information: castlehoward.co.uk
