Meeting point for the younger generation with lots of innovative gastronomy

It's worth stopping by.

When the North Sea Canal was constructed in 1870, the shipbuilding industry flourished on this side of the canal. Shipyards and cranes were built. You can now see the remains of these at the shipyard of the Nederlandsche Dok en Scheepsbouw Maatschappij (NDSM shipyard). A number of buildings are industrial heritage. There are artists' studios, flea markets, festivals and popular cafés. But a company like MTV is also located here. And a little further on the other side of where the ferry arrives, lies the former Kraanspoor, a long pier with a modern office building on it that cannot be missed, an architectural masterpiece. It is an area to wander over. Cycle a lap around the shipyard. Here are my tips: > Check if the door of the NDSM warehouse at the NDSM square is open and discover studios and small businesses in stacked containers in a huge hall where you can also find old machine parts and often have exhibitions: ndsmloods.nl/bezoek
> On the corner of the Ms. van Riemsdijkweg and the NDSM square you will find the wall-covering mural Let me be myself by Anne Frank. Made by the Brazilian street artist Eduardo Kobra.
> There is a lot of street art and graffiti on the site. Such as the mural of the late mayor of Amsterdam, Eberhard van der Laan. But also in the street art and graffiti museum STRAAT: straatmuseum.com/nl
> On the site, towards the water, there are old trams where artists now work. And also under the sloping old dock, there are studios of artists. > The tall old crane is now crane hotel Faralda with one luxury suite at the top and sometimes music events, so with a super chill view: faralda.com.
