Carl Friedrich Zelter (1758-1832) spent some of his childhood years here in Petzow. The father of the "Berliner Liedertafel" was not "born" here, as a plaque irritated Fontane himself during his wanderings through the Mark, but he lived - today in the street Am Lindentor. The old tent house was demolished in GDR times after it had become dilapidated due to improper use. The former village street between the church and the castle is now called "Zelterstraße".
