At the end of the Second World War, a soldier pinned a small picture of Mary to a beech tree on the edge of the forest in Kisselbach with the caption: "Maria helped me in a wonderful way."

Since then, many believers from Kisselbach and the surrounding area have made pilgrimages to the image of Mary to pray for the fallen, missing and their relatives in the difficult times after the war. On the occasion of the St. Mark's procession in 1946, the image of Mary was blessed by the church. Financed by donations, a forest chapel was built, which was inaugurated on May 27th, 1954.

A candlelight procession takes place at the forest chapel on the 13th of every month from May to October. It all started with a portrait that someone returning from the war attached to a tree in the forest. After this place gradually developed into a special place with spiritual attraction, the pastor Gregor Csoti had the idea of building this chapel.

After the local community of Kisselbach donated the property to the parish, this plan could be put into practice. Since that time, many believers have made pilgrimages not only from the parish, but also beyond the parish and deanery boundaries to the forest chapel.

The opening of the Marian month of May also takes place with a Holy Mass at the forest chapel.
