The historic administrative and town hall of the mountain town of Altenau in the Upper Harz from 1673 is one of the largest half-timbered houses in the Upper Harz and has been used in many different ways for centuries. In December 1777, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe stayed in this house before climbing the Brocken from there. The Harz has been a source of inspiration for many writers, but also for those looking for relaxation to this day.
