With the opening of the Hamburg main station in 1906, the Blankenese-Ohlsdorf local transport line was put into operation. Eugen Göbel, "architect of the engineering of the building deputation" designed the station building. With Ohlsdorf, Rübenkamp and Hasselbrook, he created buildings with individual architecture and with considerable creative effort, especially on the northern route. The architecture of the Hasselbrook train station is specifically honored in the book “The Structures of Rail Transport in Hamburg”. The late historic design of the brick shell is striking. Like a castle with a Gothic repertoire of forms, it stands in the tradition of the Hanover School of Architecture. Stepped peaks complete the crossed gable roofs, on the side of the entrance gable with the framed station clock a tower with a copper onion roof gives a special accent. The facades are enlivened by surrounding cornices, white plaster fields and the differentiated window design.Today, visitors to the Factory Hasselbrook are no longer driven to travel to the former train station, but by thirst and appetite in the building and the associated beer garden.
The kitchen is open until midnight at the weekend and conjures up a hearty basis for later hours. The beer is freshly tapped from the barrel. Every first Saturday of the month, the premises are transformed into a party location where people dance to pop and dance classics.
The Factory has delicious food at reasonable prices. I can clearly recommend it from my own experience.Further information:
