The early history of the Spessart and Lichtenau was essentially determined by secular and ecclesiastical powers from outside. In 1930 Karl Eich took over the inn and hotel. Since 1970 the inn has been run by Marianne (Karl Eich's youngest daughter) and Wilhelm Geis. In 2019, daughter Ursula Roth took over the business and continues the family tradition.
