Class old stone bridge. It is gratifying that the bike path runs over it
May 28, 2019
The medieval bridge, built from mighty stone quarries, crosses the Altmühl with four mighty barrel yokes. It was built around 1486 under Bishop Wilhelm von Reichenau. The name Pfünz - Pontus - indicates an important predecessor bridge. An important Roman road connection from Fort Pfünz to Burgus in Burgsallach gave this river crossing special importance. The bridge was renewed between 1822 and 1838, and as a result bridge tolls were also levied. Closed to traffic, the cycle path runs here today and many people like to linger on this historically significant river crossing in romantic surroundings.
And is always a mega photo motif !!!
