The Main-Danube Canal passes through Erlangen and Fürth, crosses the Rednitz in a steel trough bridge and reaches the southwestern part of Nuremberg. In the Eibach district, it turns south and temporarily runs parallel to the Rednitz valley to the west. At Roth, it curves in a southeasterly direction.
